On Sunday at 4:39 a.m. the National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch valid for Monday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Colorado.

Expect winds to be northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and relative humidity as low as 15 percent.

“Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire,” states the NWS.

The full list of affected locations includes:

• Jefferson and West Douglas counties above 6,000 feet/Gilpin/Clear Creek/Northeast Park counties below 9,000 feet

• Boulder/Jefferson counties below 6,000 feet/West Broomfield County

• North Douglas County below 6,000 feet/Denver/West Adams and Arapahoe counties/East Broomfield County

• Elbert/central and east Douglas counties above 6,000 feet

• Central and East Adams and Arapahoe counties

• North and Northeast Elbert County below 6,000 feet/North Lincoln County

• Southeast Elbert County below 6,000 feet/South Lincoln County

• Washington County

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
