Fire weather watch in place for West Central Texas for Saturday

The National Weather Service released a fire weather watch at 1:31 p.m. on Friday valid for Saturday between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. The watch is for Fisher, Nolan, Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Haskell, Jones and Taylor counties.

Winds are forecasted to be southwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and relative humidity 9 to 15 percent.

“Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended,” comments the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
