A fire weather watch was released by the National Weather Service on Monday at 12:25 p.m. valid for Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. for Teller County/Rampart Range including Pikes Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Fremont County including Canon City/Howard/Texas Creek, Pueblo County including Pueblo and Huerfano County including Walsenburg.

Expect winds to be west 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and relative humidity as low as 8 percent.

“Fires will catch and spread quickly. Exercise extreme caution with any outdoor burning,” explains the NWS.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
