According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Vilyuchinsk Thursday morning.

At 23:22 UTC (10:22 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake shook at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter roughly 189 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk.

Over the last week, the area has experienced 19 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above, two of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The strongest, a 5.6 magnitude quake, was recorded in the same region three days ago.
