Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude registered close to Calingasta, Argentina on March 9

CALINGASTA DEPARTMENT, San Juan Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Calingasta on Monday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 06:10 UTC (03:10 local time), was centered about 16 km southwest of Calingasta. It occurred at a depth of 120 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
