TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to Puerto Madero on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 14:55 UTC (08:55 local time). The epicenter was roughly 94 km west-southwest of Puerto Madero, at a depth of 10 km.

Two tremors closeby past week

In the past week, there have been two tremors exceeding magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake, jolted prior to this quake, while the other, measuring 4.0, was reported on Jul. 14.
