Update: Earthquake of 5.1 magnitude reported southwest of Africa on Oct. 9

MBARALI, Mbeya Region — Thursday afternoon, a 5.1 magnitude quake was registered southwest of Africa, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 14:45 UTC (15:45 local time), with its epicenter located southwest of Africa of southwest of Africa and a depth of 10 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.
