MBARALI, Mbeya Region — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.4 magnitude quake hit southwest of Africa Thursday afternoon.

The tremor shook at 15:03 UTC (16:03 local time), with its epicenter situated southwest of Africa of southwest of Africa and a depth of 10 km.
