TEHUANTEPEC, Oax. — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Santa Gertrudis Miramar Thursday night.
At 03:45 UTC (21:45 local time), the area was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 67 km, with its epicenter about 1 km southwest of Santa Gertrudis Miramar. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.

The agency has received 17 responses on its online form so far, from people reporting they experienced the tremor. Weak shaking was observed in and around the Oaxaca area, where several residents reported feeling the earthquake, according to the USGS DYFI report.
