Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake detected close to Vilyuchinsk, Russia on Aug. 1

Friday night, a 5.2 magnitude quake was reported near Vilyuchinsk, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the area at 12:39 UTC (23:39 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter located about 164 km southeast of Vilyuchinsk. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.3 but later downgraded to 5.2.
