Earthquake of magnitude 7.1 registered near Uki, Japan on July 28

A preliminary 7.1 magnitude quake rocked close to Uki on Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 07:27 UTC (16:27 local time), was centered about 4 km southeast of Uki. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
