Update: Earthquake jolts region close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on July 30 – 5.6 magnitude detected

Wednesday afternoon, a 5.6 magnitude quake was recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 04:25 UTC (14:25 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 154 km south-southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk and occurred at a depth of 35 km.
