Earthquake of magnitude 5.4 reported close to Sand Point, AK on July 16

ALEUTIANS EAST BOROUGH, AK—around midday Wednesday, a 5.4 magnitude quake was recorded near Sand Point, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 8:42 p.m. (12:42 p.m. local time), was centered approximately 58 miles south-southeast of Sand Point. It occurred at a depth of 27 miles.
