It was reported that a tremor hit the region at 03:08 UTC (15:08 local time). The epicenter was situated about 74 km east-northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 75 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.4 but later upgraded to 5.7.
