Earthquake of magnitude 5.3 reported close to Ascension Island on Aug. 2

A 5.3 magnitude quake hit near Ascension Island on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 11:52 UTC (10:52 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter north of Ascension Island.
