Update: Earthquake measuring 5.2 strikes area close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on July 30

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.2 magnitude quake jolted near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky around midday Wednesday.

The tremor shook the region at 00:04 UTC (11:04 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter located approximately 147 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.3 but later downgraded to 5.2.
