TAPACHULA, Chis. — A 5.1 magnitude quake jolted near Puerto Madero on Friday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 18:26 UTC (12:26 local time), with its epicenter about 71 km southwest of Puerto Madero and a depth of 35 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later downgraded to 5.1.

Over the last week, there have been 13 tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or higher centered nearby, two of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The biggest, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake, rocked the same region prior to this quake.
