Update: Earthquake hits region near Yenangyaung, Burma (Myanmar) on Feb. 3 – 5.1 magnitude recorded

MINBU, Magway Region — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Yenangyaung Tuesday night.

The tremor shook the area at 15:51 UTC (22:21 local time). It occurred at a depth of 72 km with the epicenter situated roughly 86 km west of Yenangyaung. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
