SARMI REGENCY, Papua — A 5.1 magnitude quake occurred close to Abepura on Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 12:27 UTC (21:27 local time), was centered roughly 194 km west of Abepura. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Over the last week, the region has experienced six quakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater. The biggest, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake, was registered in the same region prior to this quake.
