WEST SUMBA REGENCY, East Nusa Tenggara — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Tambolaka at midday on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 03:44 UTC (11:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter roughly 24 km southeast of Tambolaka. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.

There was another quake of magnitude 2.5 centered in the region, which was registered close to Tambolaka too on Jun. 15.
