Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Tambolaka, Indonesia on June 17

WEST SUMBA REGENCY, East Nusa Tenggara — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Tambolaka at midday on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 03:44 UTC (11:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter roughly 24 km southeast of Tambolaka. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
