Update: Earthquake measuring 5.5 strikes area close to Khovd, Mongolia on April 26

MO’ST, Khovd — A 5.5 magnitude quake occurred near Khovd on Sunday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the region at 04:23 UTC (11:23 local time). It occurred at a depth of 11 km with the epicenter approximately 170 km southeast of Khovd. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.9 but later downgraded to 5.5.
