FAMATINA DEPARTMENT, La Rioja Province — A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred near Arauco on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the region at 09:21 UTC (06:21 local time), was centered approximately 51 km west-southwest of Arauco. It occurred at a depth of 122 km.
