Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 shakes area close to Isangel, Vanuatu on Sept. 17

WEST TANNA, Tafea Province — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake jolted near Isangel Wednesday night.

The tremor hit the region at 12:02 UTC (23:02 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter situated about 79 km west-northwest of Isangel.
