Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 jolts area near Tomioka, Japan on Oct. 23

FUTABA DISTRICT, Fukushima — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.1 magnitude quake shook close to Tomioka Thursday morning.

The tremor hit the region at 21:09 UTC (06:09 local time). It occurred at a depth of 41 km with the epicenter situated approximately 90 km east of Tomioka.
