Update: Nov. 20 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded close to Lata, Solomon Islands

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake hit close to Lata Thursday morning.

The tremor jolted at 15:55 UTC (02:55 local time), with its epicenter located approximately 158 km southwest of Lata and a depth of 37 km.

Last week’s tremor

Last week, there was one more quake of magnitude 2.5 centered in the area, which was detected near Lata too, five days ago.
