Earthquake jolts area southeast of Easter Island: 5.2 magnitude recorded on Dec. 14

EASTER ISLAND, Valparaíso — Sunday morning, a 5.2 magnitude quake was detected southeast of Easter Island, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the region at 09:44 UTC (02:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated southeast of Easter Island of southeast of Easter Island.
