Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake hits near Lata, Solomon Islands on Feb. 25

A 5.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Lata Wednesday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted the area at 09:48 UTC (20:48 local time). It occurred at a depth of 121 km with the epicenter located approximately 18 km northeast of Lata.
