Update: Oct. 19 – 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded near Panguna, Papua New Guinea

INNER SHORTLANDS, Western Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected near Panguna Sunday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 09:55 UTC (20:55 local time), with its epicenter situated about 84 km south-southeast of Panguna and a depth of 52 km.
