MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.0 magnitude quake was registered close to Redwood Valley Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 3:10 p.m., with its epicenter situated approximately 5 miles northwest of Redwood Valley and a depth of just 1 mile.

Pair of equally strong tremors recorded in last week

Over the past week, the region experienced two quakes greater than magnitude 2.5, both measuring 2.9. One was centered near Cobb prior to this quake, and the other was felt close to Lake Pillsbury on July 6.
