Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake jolts near Kimbe, Papua New Guinea on Oct. 27

At midnight on Monday, a 5.3 magnitude quake was reported close to Kimbe, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 14:29 UTC (00:29 local time), was centered approximately 198 km east-southeast of Kimbe. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
