Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude reported close to Severo-Kuril’sk, Russia on Jan. 10

A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Severo-Kuril’sk around midday Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 03:39 UTC (13:39 local time), with its epicenter located roughly 163 km south of Severo-Kuril’sk and a depth of 68 km.
