Update: Seismic activity on Aug. 24 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia detected

Sunday afternoon, a 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was reported that a tremor struck the region at 03:10 UTC (14:10 local time). The epicenter was situated roughly 154 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.4 event, but later downgraded it to 5.2.
