Earthquake hits area close to Kokopo, Papua New Guinea: 5.3 magnitude reported on July 30

A 5.3 magnitude quake struck near Kokopo on Thursday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 02:46 UTC (12:46 local time), with its epicenter about 217 km southeast of Kokopo and a depth of 10 km.
