Update: 5.3 magnitude earthquake hits close to Bitung, Indonesia on Aug. 13

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.3 magnitude quake occurred near Bitung at midnight on Wednesday.

The tremor shook the area at 16:45 UTC (00:45 local time). It occurred at a depth of 73 km with the epicenter situated roughly 59 km southeast of Bitung.
