On Sunday at 1:57 p.m. a dust storm warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 7 p.m. for El Paso and Hudspeth counties.
“At 1:56 p.m., an area of blowing dust was over Tornillo,” says the NWS. “This includes Interstate 10 in Texas between mile markers 34 and 62.”
Locations impacted by the warning include Cornudas Mountains, Tornillo, Cornudas, Agua Dulce, Dairyland, Lincoln National Forest, Indian Cliffs Ranch, Crow Flats, Loma Linda, Fabens, Clint, Butterfield, Hueco Mountain Estates, Sparks, San Elizario, Horizon City, Socorro, Lake Way Estates, Hueco Mountain Wind Ranch and Desert Haven.
“Dangerous life-threatening travel,” adds the NWS. “Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
