West Texas placed under a dust storm warning Tuesday evening

On Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a dust storm warning in effect until 8 p.m. The warning is for Andrews, Ector, Martin and Midland counties.

“At 7:04 p.m., a dust storm was near West Odessa, moving north at 50 mph,” explains the NWS. “Dangerous life-threatening travel.”

Locations impacted by the warning include Midland International Air, Space Port, Midland, Odessa Schlemeyer Field, Goldsmith, Warfield, Midland Airpark, West Odessa and and Odessa.

The NWS comments, “Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.”
