An updated beach hazards statement was released by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 5:07 p.m. in effect until Wednesday at 7 p.m. The statement is for Matagorda Islands, Brazoria Islands, Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula.
The NWS says, “Dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding, especially during times of high tides are expected.”
“Dangerous swimming and beach conditions due to strong rip currents and minor coastal flooding. Persistent strong southeasterly winds will continue to bring a high risk of strong rip currents and increased wave runup along all Gulf facing beaches,” explains the NWS. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”
