According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at midday on Wednesday.

The tremor hit at 01:37 UTC (12:37 local time), with its epicenter located approximately 156 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a depth of 10 km.
