Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake recorded close to Nabire, Indonesia on April 9

NABIRE REGENCY, Central Papua — A 5.0 magnitude quake rattled near Nabire on Thursday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck the area at 07:32 UTC (16:32 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter about 98 km east-northeast of Nabire. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later downgraded to 5.0.
