An updated beach hazards statement was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 12:31 p.m. in effect until Monday at 9 a.m. for Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast.

The NWS states to expect, “Moderate period northwest swell will result in breaking waves between 15 to 20 feet, with the highest waves up to 28 feet in favored locations, and an increased risk for rip currents.”

“Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion,” describes the NWS. “Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.”
