Published Apr 16, 2025

The National Weather Service released an updated fire weather watch at 1:18 p.m. on Wednesday valid for Thursday between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. The watch is for Hall, Childress, Motley, Cottle, Dickens and Garza counties.

Winds are expected to be southwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and humidity as low as 8 percent.

“Any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is discouraged,” explains the NWS.

A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
