The Youngstown Phantoms defeated Team USA 7-3 on Friday, April 10, 2025 at USA Hockey Arena.
The Team USA opened strong, right after the puck drop with Sammy Nelson scoring in the first period, goal assisted by Jamie Glance and AJ Francisco.
The Team USA increased the lead to 2-0 in the first period when JP Hurlbert scored, assisted by Logan Stuart and Sam Wathier.
The Phantoms narrowed the gap to 2-1 in the middle of the first period when Jamison Sluys scored, assisted by Michael Mesic and Adam Benák.
The Phantoms’ Ryan Rucinski tied it up 2-2 with a minute left in the first, assisted by Evan Jardine and Jack Hextall.
The Phantoms scored two goals in second period an held the lead 4-2 going in to the second break.
The Phantoms increased the lead to 5-2 early in the third period when Evan Jardine beat the goalie again, assisted by Ryan Rucinski and Jack Hextall.
Logan Stuart narrowed the gap to 5-3 with a goal four minutes later, assisted by Dayne Beuker and Sammy Nelson.
Michael Mesic made it 6-3 with a goal two minutes later, assisted by Coleson Hanrahan and Jamison Sluys.
Ryan Rucinski also increased the lead to 7-3 with a goal two minutes later.
