An updated dust advisory was released by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 6:16 p.m. in effect until 7:15 p.m. The advisory is for Glasscock, Howard, Martin and Midland counties.

“At 6:16 p.m., a wall of dust was along a line extending from 10 miles east of Andrews to 8 miles southeast of Midland International Air and Space Port to 18 miles north of Rankin, moving east at 35 mph,” states the NWS. “This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 122 and 176.”

Locations impacted by the advisory include Tarzan, Lomax, Cotton Flat, Greenwood, Stanton, Lenorah, Warfield, Garden City, Midland Airpark, Skywest Airport, Courtney, Midland International Air, Space Port, Midland, Big Spring McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark, Knott, Saint Lawrence, Stanton Municipal Aiport, Elbow, Spraberry and and Big Spring.

“Hazardous travel,” adds the NWS. “Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. Pull aside stay alive!”
