On Sunday at 6:40 a.m. an updated ice storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 11 p.m. for Jefferson County.

The NWS adds to prepare for, “Freezing rain. Additional ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch, mainly across the northern half of the county. The greatest accumulations will be near the Saint Lawrence River.”

“Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs will cause scattered to numerous power outages. Travel will be difficult,” says the NWS. “Be prepared for power outages and slippery roads. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.”
