NIUATOPUTAPU, Niuas — A 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to Hihifo on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

A tremor jolted the area at 13:29 UTC (01:29 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 107 km north-northeast of Hihifo and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
