A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Coquimbo on Wednesday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 00:36 UTC (19:36 local time), was centered roughly 98 km northwest of Coquimbo. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
