Earthquake jolts area close to Gizo, Solomon Islands: 5.1 magnitude detected on Oct. 2

A 5.1 magnitude quake shook near Gizo on Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit at 04:44 UTC (15:44 local time), with its epicenter about 159 km southeast of Gizo and a depth of 10 km.
