The National Weather Service issued a report at 3:43 a.m. on Wednesday for dense fog until 8:30 a.m. The alert is for Inland Glynn, Coastal Glynn, Inland Camden, Coastal Camden, Northern Ware, Northeastern Charlton, Southern Ware and Western Charlton as well as Coffee, Jeff Davis, Bacon, Appling, Wayne, Atkinson, Pierce, Brantley, Echols and Clinch counties.

“Areas of dense fog development is expected from the I-10 corridor northward across Southeast Georgia early this morning. Visibility as low as 1/4 mile or less can be expected at times through sunrise. Dense fog advisories may need to be posted for areas of inland Southeast Georgia along the Altamaha River Basin. Conditions should improve between 8 am and 9 am this morning. The nature of the fog is such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances. Motorists should be alert for rapidly changing conditions through sunrise. If driving, slow down and leave extra distance ahead of you in case a sudden stop is needed,” comments the NWS.

• If no parking area is available, pull your vehicle as far to the roadside as possible. Once stationary, turn off all lights except the hazard flashers, engage the emergency brake, and release the brake pedal to ensure your tail lights are not illuminated, reducing the risk of other drivers colliding with your stationary vehicle.
