Earthquake hits area close to South Sandwich Islands region: 5.1 magnitude recorded on Sept. 8

A 5.1 magnitude quake jolted near South Sandwich Islands region on Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the region at 06:50 UTC (04:50 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was of South Sandwich Islands region and occurred at a depth of 129 km.
