Update: Earthquake strikes region near Ende, Indonesia on Aug. 20 – 5.0 magnitude registered

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Ende on Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor rattled the area at 19:53 UTC (03:53 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 81 km north-northwest of Ende.

Quakes past week

Last week, six tremors with a magnitude 5.5 or greater have been reported in the area. The largest one was a 7.8 earthquake that was recorded in the same region on Aug. 15.
